The National Ambulance Service (NAS) has been using Eircodes to help make it quicker and easier to locate an address in an emergency since August 2016. Providing an Eircode with an address provides Emergency Call Takers and Emergency Medical Dispatchers with valuable information to help them identify the property swiftly and accurately.
To highlight the benefits of knowing your Eircode in an emergency situation, a Public Service Announcement is currently airing on RTÉ television and radio. The campaign acts as a reminder that knowing your Eircode can be very helpful in an emergency situation.
One of the many benefits of Eircode is that although your address may not have a unique name or number the Eircode is unique, thus helping someone travelling to the address identify the correct location faster.
